Skill

For every level of Duke of Edinburgh you need to show a commitment to learning and develop a skill of your choice. Each level has a different time commitment. Find out more about the criteria here.

Here at Willowgate we have a range of options for you to get involved in a new or existing skill. Here are some opportunities;

  • Join our After School Club on Thursdays. This club run's each week and focuses on a range of outdoor activities such as Bushcraft, Survival Skills, Archery, and Watersports
  • Join our Kayak Club on Saturdays. This club focuses on developing kayak skills in a range of environments, including white water. The club meets each week and goes on regular trips offsite (including expeditions)
  • Join our SUP Club. Just like the Kayak Club, this club meets weekly to love all things paddleboard!
  • Become a paddlesports instructor/coach. Many of our kayak club members use Kayaking for their 'Sport' section, and use Paddlesport Instructing as their 'Skill'. We can deliver the courses needed to become a qualified Paddlesports Instructor (or other coaching qualifications) and can provide the opportunity to practice and develop these skills. A great way to add an additional life skill, develop responsibility and get the qualifications needed to spend a summer (or longer) working as an outdoors instructor!

Get in touch with us to ask any questions or learn more about our 'Skill' opportunities!
