Clubs
Come to Willowgate every week, make new friends, whilst improving your skills.
Providing a space for the local community to continue to engage, enjoy and access what we do here at Willowgate is really important to us.
We have a variety of clubs which allow lots of people to enjoy what we're got on offer on a weekly basis. From kayak clubs, SUP clubs, afterschool clubs and clubs for those with additional support needs, we have a range of things on offer to help keep the fun going all year long!
KAYAK CLUB
Come to Willowgate every week, make new friends, whilst improving your skills!
Our kayak club is open to young people who have prior paddling experience, normally graduates of our 5-week courses!
Our club runs weekly all year round, giving young people valuable time with our instructors to help them improve and enjoy paddlesports. Having a group of peers to learn alongside gives them the chance to spend their Saturdays getting out and about, have a bit of fun and make friends at the same time.
There will be regular trips off site and each year an overnight expedition. We offer club members the chance to do paddlesport qualifications, and when they’re ready, test their limits on white water as well! During the winter we spend time in a warm swimming pool where we practice our rolling and capsize drills.
A great club for young people to really get involved, have fun and feel part of something! If you'd like to join our club, we'd love to hear from you.

ASN CLUB
Be wild, have fun and feel supported with our ASN club!
Our ASN club is for young people (7+) with additional supports needs who are looking for a supportive space where they can have fun and be a little wild.
During the summer months we meet 17:00- 18:30 on Wednesday evenings where our club members enjoy learning various paddlesports (or in many cases running and jumping into the water).
During winter we set a programme of activities which often include archery, bushcraft, walks in local places etc. This year our club members are working towards their John Muir Award over winter. The club runs on a Sunday afternoon once it gets too dark on a Wednesday evening.
If you’re interested in joining our ASN club, please give us a call to chat further. We like to know as much about new members as possible to we can ensure your first experience with us is as positive as possible. The first session is free, as we know that it can sometimes be a bit intimidating coming to a new place for the first time.

WEDNESDAY CLUB
For adults with additional support needs, the Wednesday club is here for you to enjoy!
Our Wednesday club is for adults with additional support needs who love spending time being active and trying new things.
Most of our club members love spending time on the water so that’s what we do until the weather gets really bad. Other options include archery, bushcraft, John Muir Award etc. We cater the club activities to whomever is attending the club, as we get to know our club members well over the weeks (and in some cases years).
We meet each Wednesday afternoon from 14:00- 15:30. We aim for the club to be as inclusive as possible, so if you'd like to join us please do give us a call and we can answer any questions you may have.
The first session is free to allow you to settle in and see if it’s right for you. We can provide photos, storyboard images and any information you would like to make your first experience as welcoming as possible. See here for more information about what facilities and equipment we have available.
BOOK YOUR ADVENTUREAFTER SCHOOL CLUB
Let off some steam after school and learn something just because it’s fun!
Our After School Club is all about letting young people try out new things, develop some skills and most importantly let off some steam after school.
In summer, we spend a lot of time on the water perfecting the art of paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing etc. If your young person is keen, we can support them in gaining paddlesports qualifications over the course of the club’s sessions. It’s a great way to make some new friends and gives them something to look forward to after a long day at school.
We run the After School Club most of the year on Thursdays from 16:30- 18:30. In the colder months we tend to keep dry and do activities like archery, fire lighting and other bushcraft activities. Like all of our clubs, we tailor the club to those who are in it.

SUP CLUB
We love a good paddle and chat and realised so do our customers... Hello SUP Club!
SUP Club is a place for adults to come together, enjoy being outside and have a safe space to practice their skills, We've found that lots of people have their own paddleboards and wanted somewhere local to use them, as well as wanting to meet new paddlboarding friends. We have boards on offer to rent, so whatever your abilitiy or experience come down and meet some like minded people whilst enjoying being on the water!
An instructor will be on hand to pass out any rental gear as well as be there for any questions you may have about paddleboarding. They'll jump on the water and paddle round sharing some tips and tricks to those who want them and challenging those who need that extra push.
All in all, we think it's a fantastic bunch of people who we love hanging out with on a Thursday night, long may it continue!
Everyone is welcome and we look forward to new people joining the club each week!
