Uniform Groups
We welcome uniform groups, such as the Cadets, Scouts, Guides & Boys Brigade to bring their young people to Willowgate to learn not only water sporting skills but valuable team building skills too.
We offer a range of options both on land and on the water and are happy to co-ordinate special requests for activities or opportunities to achieve badges and qualifications. We think local community groups do an amazing job so we want to do our bit to support them by offering special prices.
BRING YOUR EVENING MEETING HERE
Let us entertain them!
Bring your young people to us for the evening for us to entertain, teach and immerse them in a new skill.
We can offer watersports sessions such as individual kayaking, paddleboarding and canoeing, or group paddlesports such as Katakanus, giant paddleboards or raft building. On land popular activities include archery, combat archery, bushcraft and team building activities.
For Brownies/Beavers/Cub age groups we would recommend a combination of Giant Paddleboard & Katakanu, that way no one will be left behind.
For all other ages, a combination of any 2 activities works well for a 2 hour session.

COME FOR AN ACTIVITY DAY
Spend the day here to maximise the fun!
We can create an activity day tailored to your young people and the aims your group set out. Choose to do a multi-activity day where you may spend half the day splashing about the lagoon and half the day getting your Robin Hood and Bear Grylls skills perfected with Archery, Bushcraft and other activities.
Or focus a whole day on one activity to really learn that sport and get those badges ticked off! We'll work with your leaders to choose a programme which best suits you.
Some groups like to bring all their sections on one day. This works really well and can create a great bond between groups. We tend to do some activities together, and split into age groups for others.

Give yourselves more time to learn
To really get the most out of what we offer at Willowgate, you can bring your group back for multiple sessions to work towards honing a particular skill, gaining a badge or earning a recognised qualification.
We can offer progressive sessions in order to work towards British Canoeing qualifications in Paddleboarding, Canoeing, Kayaking or a mix of them all.
Some groups do this by coming for 1 evening a month over summer, or for a few consecutive weeks.

RUN YOUR OWN SESSION AT WILLOWGATE
Use your leaders skills
For groups with their own qualified and insured instructors, there is the opportunity to rent our spaces to run your own sessions. Our available facilities include classrooms, a bushcraft shelter and our sheltered lagoon. You can either use our equipment or bring your own.
All groups must have their own risk assessments in place and would need to share a copy of their certificates with us. It's a great option to save your group a little bit of cash!
