Training
The Paddlesport Leader is aimed at paddlers who wish to lead groups of mixed craft on both wind affected and slow moving sheltered water.
This 2 day training will look at the personal skills, rescues, leadership skills and decision making appropriate to the environment. Over the course of the training candidates will take part in a variety of leadership opportunities and scenarios to bring the syllabus alive and relate them to real life leadership.
This award will see you lead multiple crafts including kayaks, sit on top kayaks, canoes & paddleboards from your chosen craft in a sheltered water environment, looking at slow moving rivers & lochs up to 200 metres from shore.
We offer both official 2 day British Canoeing Training and bespoke training to suit your individual or groups needs.
Over the course of training we will look at:
- Personal paddling skills in the required environment
- Rescues required for assessment
- Leadership styles and theory, including the balance of support & challenge
